About North East Football.co.uk

Welcome to the standard about this website which lists a load of stuff your only really likely to read once after reading all the latest headlines or just want to see how long it has been since I updated this little section.

When did the site first start?
Unofficially work started in the summer of 2005 ahead of the pre-season programme.

Do you have an RSS feed?
Yes we do. Simply point your RSS reader to this link here and you'll get the latest headlines straight to your chosen reader.

What is RSS?
There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but the majority plump for 'Really Simple Syndication'. Put plainly, it allows you to identify the content you like and have it delivered directly to you. It takes the hassle out of staying up-to-date, by showing you the very latest information that you are interested in. In general, the first thing you need is something called a news reader. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications (we recommend FeedRader). All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want. Once you've found a site with an RSS feed (look out for the orange logo) simply copy and paste the link into your reader.

Is this site in anyway official?
This site is not intended to be anyway official or meant to replace each club's official site.

So what is the point then?
It's just an alternative source of news really in a site which is uncluttered and easy to use. Basically it is just somewhere the fans of North East clubs can go to find out the news in one place without flitting all over the net. It is hoped that eventually it will become a decent site which has built up a load of news on the North East clubs which fans can search through.

Why is club such and such not here?
Sorry got to draw the line somewhere. We've stuck to the clubs which are traditionally thought of as been in the North East and recognised as such without any hesitation. That rules out Carlisle.

How many people are involved in the site?
Originally the site was done by one person but now there are a couple more people involved in the writing side of things. The site itself however is programmed and designed by a 'one person in his bedroom' type thing.

Who do you support?
The person who designed and scripted the site is a Darlington fan. But the site also takes in contributions on a regular basis from a Sunderland supporter, a Middlesbrough supporter and another Darlington supporter as well.

Whats the best way to view the site?
Either Internet Explorer 6 point whatever and above or Mozilla FireFox. I've designed them well enough to look the same in each browser so your not missing anything.
