Antoine Sibierski out to sink Magpies

Newcastle UnitedFormer Newcastle United player Antoine Sibierski is out to sink his old club and end their unbeaten start to the season. Sibierski scored eight goals during his season at St James’ Park. The player had quit Manchester City exactly a year ago after being frozen out by Stuart Pearce, and few expected much of a return from the transfer-deadline day signing.

Sibierski was offered a new deal by Glenn Roeder late last season but elected to move away from the North East to Wigan Athletic. He has scored three times for the Latics and says he will always be a Newcastle fan at heart after falling in love with the club during his brief stay. However he will put that aside ahead of this forthcoming fixture.

“I believe I’ll get a good reception. I still like the people up there and I'm a Newcastle fan forever now,” said Sibierski. “I want to beat Newcastle on Saturday and I want to score. If we win, and I score, then the Newcastle fans will be saying ‘it’s a big shame that Antoine Sibierski left us’. Newcastle is in the past for me now. The only thing I want to do is win with my team-mates here at Wigan. We’re going to Newcastle to beat them. We’re not going just for one point. Just because this is an away match we won’t be happy with a draw. We feel we can beat anyone if we play as team.”
