Crosby’s praise for Rochemback

MiddlesbroughMalcolm Crosby has praised the quality of the two long range strikes which granted Middlesbrough safe passage to the next round of the Carling Cup. Middlesbrough won their second round tie 2-0 against Northampton last night.

A free-kick from the excellent Fabio Rochemback and Dong Gook Lee’s first for the club were the main differences between Boro and a tough and well organised Northampton Town team. Rochemback had more efforts on goal against Newcastle on Sunday than any other player but he had to wait another three days to get his reward.

“We’ve been trying to tell him not to shoot from those distances but he’s normally another ten yards behind where he took it from tonight so we’ll give him that one,” said assistant manager Crosby. “I thought he played very well.”

Dong Gook has had to wait for his chance at Middlesbrough but made the most of his start against Northampton. “We’ve been waiting a while but I’m really pleased for him. He’s had bad luck in front of goal but he took it very, very well and everyone in the changing room was really pleased for the lad. That first goal takes the weight off your shoulders, if you score a goal you are looking forward to scoring more and he won’t be any different,” said Crosby.
