Cacapa will be a big name says Allardyce

Newcastle United defender Cacapa will be a big name in England says manager Sam Allardyce. The defender is expected to make his full debut in the Carling Cup match against Barnsley tonight. Cacapa has made two substitute appearances for the club since signing on a free transfer after six years at Olympique Lyonnais.
“Claudio is a quality player,” Allardyce told the Gazette. “When we signed him, because he was on a free, everybody wondered who he was. But he’s probably one of the most decorated players at this club. He’s probably won more than most players here at Lyon - five titles on the trot and captain of the club - and he has played in the Champions League. That means he’s a very experienced and high-quality defender who we hope will now begin to show those qualities with Newcastle United.”
Ahead of the game with Barnsley Magpies player Steve Taylor says there is no chance of the club taking anything for granted. In his pre-match Press conference, Allardyce was at pains to stress the importance of having a professional approach to the tie, and Taylor has echoed his sentiment.
“It’s a big game for us,” Taylor said. “It’s at home, and we're confident. There’s no reason why we can’t do well in this competition. Since I’ve been involved in the first team we haven’t got beyond the fifth round. Chelsea knocked us out last season and went on to win it, and we want to go further this time. It’s a competition everyone takes very seriously, and to do well in it would be fantastic. But we’re not taking anything for granted, and we know we have to be professional against Barnsley.”
