Middlesbrough try for Aliadiere

MiddlesbroughMiddlesbrough are testing the resolve of Arsenal to hang on to French striker Jeremie Aliadiere. The twenty-three year old has not been a regular at Arsenal and is believed to be unsettled. Aliadiere turned in an outstanding display against Liverpool at Anfield recently but the player is prepared to move if he can play every week.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stressed on several occasions that he prefers to keep Aliadiere. But the Gunners boss will continue to respect his feelings, and the striker knows the return of striker Thierry Henry to full fitness will limit his future chances with the Gunners.

For these reasons Middlesbrough have made a fresh inquiry. Gareth Southgate is already closing in on bringing another striker into the club. Boro are negotiating with Pehang Steelers over a fee for Lee Dong-Gook. At the moment Pehang’s asking price for the South Korean is believed to be too high but discussions are continuing. Already he has won over the Boro players.

Andrew Davies said: “The lads have been very impressed with him. He’s an excellent finisher and very good at holding the ball up. He’s quick and strong.”
