Pair sign permanent deals with Quakers

DarlingtonDarlington have signed Tommy Wright and Ricky Ravenhill on a permanent basis. The pair joined the club on loan ahead of the game with Bury on Tuesday night but have now completed moves to the club for an undisclosed length of time revealed manager Dave Penney today.

“We had to take them on loan to have a good look at them to obviously see if they liked us and they did so we’ve got it sorted,” said Penney. “Tommy (Wright) has moved for a small fee and we’ve take Ricky (Ravenhill) on a free transfer. They will be great additions to the squad.”

Ravenhill was part of the Doncaster side that gained promotion back to the football league via the conference play-offs during the 2002/03 campaign under Penney and earlier this season moved to Grimsby Town after a brief spell with Chester City. Ravenhill came off the bench at Bury to make his debut whilst Wright started and scored Quakers’ equaliser in the dying minutes of the match at Gigg Lane.

Wright started his career at home town club Leicester City where he made twenty-four appearances before spending time on loan at Brentford and Blackpool before moving to Barnsley and playing a part in the squad that won promotion to the Championship last season.

“Ricky is twenty-six and he one of the fittest players in the squad at Doncaster. He likes to tackle but can play as well. Tommy Wright has been about, he has had a stop start time but he is another boy who will put his head in. It was great for him to set off on Tuesday with a goal on his debut,” said Penney.
