Boateng unlikely to figure in Hull clash

MiddlesbroughMiddlesbrough player George Boateng will miss his side’s FA Cup replay against Hull City tomorrow night. The midfielder took a battering in the game with Charlton at the weekend after being taken out early on by a challenge from his friend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. The former Boro striker was booked for the foul.

“George's mate gave him a bit of a dig,” said Gareth Southgate. “But George kept going and was an important player for us. He took a few more knocks before we felt that he needed to come off. We’ve had a look at him. We’ve got an important game against Hull but George will only play if we feel he has fully recovered.”

While Boateng is not expected to face the Tigers in the third round replay, Southgate is likely to make a couple of cosmetic changes to keep the side fresh. Hull warmed up for the replay with a 2-1 win at home to QPR thanks to two late goals from substitute Stuart Elliott.
