Quakers sign keeper ahead of clash with Rovers

DarlingtonDarlington have completed their fifth signing since the transfer window opening earlier this month. Veteran Blackpool keeper Lee Jones joins Quakers for a month's loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The thirty–five year old shot stopper is available to play at Doncaster Rovers tomorrow night and will provide competition with David Stockdale for a first team place whilst Sam Russell recovers from a broken leg. Jones spent a brief loan spell with Bury in December under the emergency loan arrangements.

Manager Dave Penney, said: "Lee is a big imposing goalkeeper who has bags of experience and commands the penalty area. We have needed some back up for David Stockdale who has done very well under the circumstances and this signing will give me options."

Jones will join fellow newcomers Kevin Burgess, David Wheater and Evan Horwood in the squad that travels to Doncaster in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tomorrow night. However, Tim Ryan is not available for the trip to the Keepmoat Stadium as he has already played in the competition for Boston United.

Darlington are still hopeful to add more new faces to the squad before the transfer window closes again at the end of January.
