Barker close to signing for Pools

Hartlepool UnitedRichie Barker is close to signing for Hartlepool United. He is reportedly in town to discuss personal terms of his transfer from Mansfield Town. Barker is the Stag's captain and leading scorer (15 goals) and is Danny Wilson's main January transfer target. It appears likely that Wilson is about to secure the deal.

Pools have had an £80,000 bid for Barker accepted by Stags chairman Peter Lee and all that stands in the way of the deal is the players personal terms. Barker has scored 48 goals in 106 appearances for the Stags and both former manager Peter Shirtliff and new manager Billy Dearden both stated their desire to keep the big forward at the club.

Pools are expected to confirm the signing some time this afternoon is reports are to be believed.
