Record breaking Pools' manager up for award

Hartlepool UnitedHartlepool United's recent winning run has put their manager Danny Wilson in with a chance of being named manager of the month for December. Hartlepool United have embarked upon an excellent run in which they have etched their name into Football League History by leveling a record for consecutive wins without conceding.

Wilson's men have already smashed the club record for consecutive league wins by going nine in a row this season – but now they are verging on Football League records too! Hartlepool United's win at Mansfield Town (their eighth without conceding) equals a Football League record. Only two Football League teams have previously managed this feat – Wigan in 2001/2002 and Barnsley in 1954/1955.

Millwall, York and Reading (11), Charlton (10), and Leeds and Chelsea (9) have all enjoyed longer runs of clean sheets but all have had 0–0 draws which prevented the winning sequence reaching eight.

Also up for manger of the month in Coca–Cola League two is Macclessfield boss Paul Ince. The former Manchester United player has worked wonders at Macclesfield as they moved off the foot of League Two. Despite Hartlepool United's excellent run Ince must be in pole position after dragging strugglers Macclesfield off the bottom of the division with a superb run of five wins from six, as well as the win over Pools in the cup.
