Viduka wants to stay

MiddlesbroughMiddlesbrough forward Mark Viduka wants to stay at the club and commit himself to Gareth Southgate's plans. The Australian striker has revealed that he would be very interested in discussing a contract extension. The current three year deal runs out in the summer and Viduka says he wants to stay.

Viduka revealed that there had been no offer of discussions from the club over a potential contract extension. This leaves his future up in the air and raises new questions with the January transfer window about to open. The Aussie has been linked with moves away from Teesside in the past, and there is bound to be fresh speculation about his future as time goes by without talks.

"I would like to stay. I love coming to work. I get on with everybody. I enjoy coming to work every day," said Viduka. "There have been rumours before the start of every season I have been here. But I know nothing anything happening. I just get on with the job."

Viduka scored for Middlesbrough against Fulham on Monday with his third goal of the season. It is his first goal since the player returned from a broken toe. He is now hoping to stay in the side.

"It's always good to score goals but the most important thing now is that we start winning games. I think we have played well in the last two games but the results haven't gone our way," said Viduka. "If we keep playing as well as we have done in those games then the results are bound to change. Obviously we want the three points tomorrow but there are no easy games in the Premiership. Charlton are struggling but it's difficult to play against struggling teams because they are desperate. We just have to concentrate on doing what we need to do."
