Roeder has things to think about

Newcastle UnitedNewcastle United manager Glenn Roeder has had little time to enjoy his side's victory over Watford at the weekend. The Newcastle United boss is now getting ready for the Carling Cup quarter final clash with Chelsea at St James' Park. Roeder faces defensive headaches for the match on Wednesday.

There was at least there was some good news for Roeder when he went to the club's training ground yesterday morning to see who had reported in for treatment after the win over Watford and found only Emre there. And despite being kicked out of the game for the second time in three matches the Turkish international has a good chance of lining up against Chelsea.

Roeder will need another defender to go with Steven Taylor, Peter Ramage and youngster Paul Huntington. Roeder said: "Young Huntington has kept things nice and simple and I am delighted with what he has done. We still need another defender and Nobby's (Nolberto Solano) 60–40, and if he does not make it for Wednesday night he will be out there against Spurs at St James' Park on Saturday. The same applies to Emre. He has a very sore ankle but says he has a good chance of playing against Chelsea."
