Adjustment has finally been made

Hartlepool UnitedHartlepool United player Tony Sweeney believes the club have finally found their feet in League Two. Sweeney has spent two months of the season on the sidelines with knee ligament damage says Pools have taken their time to adjust following relegation last season but after four league wins in the row believes they are now coming good.

"It has been a big adjustment coming down to League Two and maybe some of us thought it would be easier than it has turned out," Sweeney said. "We have been knocked down a peg or two but we have got it together and things are starting to pick up again. We are on a nice little run but that is what we needed to do. In this league if you can put any sort of run together – maybe six or seven games undefeated – then you can shoot right up the table and be there or thereabouts. Walsall are well out in front at the moment and they are quite a few points ahead of us (15). But if we keep aspiring to catch them then hopefully we can keep making up ground."

With the Christmas period coming up Pools are in good form. However Sweeney admits the league table made for grim reading just a few weeks ago. The club was sixteenth in the table after five matches without a win but things have improved massively of late.

"We have been looking at the league table since day one and it was not nice seeing us in the bottom half," he said. "That is not where we want to be but we are now in the play–off positions and hoping to stay there and push on. It has not been the start we have wanted, the results have been a bit up and down, but we are still in there. And if we can keep it going, hopefully the fans will be on board and we can give them a good season."
