Quakers release defender

DarlingtonDarlington have released Finland International Ville Vaisanen. The defender, who joined the club at the end of August, made just five appearances for the Quakers, the last being the 5–0 home defeat to Rochdale.

Manager Dave Penney, said: "Ville has been injured since I arrived at the club so I haven't been able see him in action and with his contract coming to an end we have taken the decision to let him go. Everyone at Darlington Football Club would like to wish Ville the very best for the future. Of course, his departure will enable me to have the opportunity to possibly bring in a new face during the transfer window."

Vaisanen made his debut for Darlington in the 3–1 win against Peterborough at London Road in early September. The Fin went on to make another four starts for Quakers in Coca–Cola League Two. Vaisanen played for Finnish club FF Jaro and has been capped six times for his country. Viasanen, who has had spells in Sweden, Norway and Greece, started his career as a forward but since moved to become a defender.
